Jolly good show!

The Cateys

Pub and Bar Award

The Cateys recognise and celebrate the individuals, teams and businesses shaping the hospitality industry.

Since their inception in 1984, The Cateys have cast a spotlight on the industry’s highest flyers, strongest performers and hottest brands. Over more than a quarter of a century, they have become a byword for quality, class and achievement, the awards that everybody wants to win. No wonder then that the industry refers to them as its Oscars Night!

Why does winning a Catey mean so much? Because recipients are nominated, selected and rewarded by their industry peers. A Catey statue on your mantelpiece symbolises Caterer readers’ collective desire to recognise your efforts in supporting and developing the UK's hospitality scene.

Retailers' Retailer Awards

Retailers' Retailer 2014

Alex Reilley, who has overseen the impressive growth of Loungers, was singled out by his peers as the stand-out individual in the eating-out and drinking-out market. The managing director of the cafe bar operator collected the Best Individual prize at this year's Retailers' Retailer of the Year Awards 2014.

Reilley emerged from an assorted shortlist of eminent business leaders from the eating and drinking-out market, narrowly beating: Andrew Page, The Restaurant Group chief executive; Tim Bacon, Living Ventures, chief executive; Tom Byng, chief executive of Byron; Paul May, chief executive of Patisserie Holdings; Jillian McLean, managing director of Drake & Morgan; and Rob Papps, UK managing director of Nando's.

We were up against some of the biggest, most established operators in the biz for this award, so to say we’re honoured and flattered and a bit taken back is an understatement. ‘Best Operator of the Year’ was voted for by our industry peers; this is a beauty to behold and we’re very very chuffed. Needless to say, it was in recognition of the fine, good and honest hard graft by all the team Loungers and Cosy Clubbers, and it’s totally thanks to them that we have it. We’re stoked!

Being nominated for two categories in the hugely popular Bath Good Food Awards was marvellous and bagging the trophy for the Best Family Restaurant was even better. Hats off to all the mums, dads and kids that have used and abused the family games, fun colouring and generally enjoyed mess-making! Well done all of us!!! Thank you.

We were chuffed enough at being nominated for INNOVATION OF THE YEAR for The Cosy Club in the Restaurant Magazine's annual awards but to actually win the award (against some non-too-shabby operators) was bloomin' marvellous. Long may the paper weights keep coming, Cheers!!!
